Welcome! My name is Diana and I am the creative mind and hands behind Appalachia Angel Studios.

Born and raised in the Appalachian mountains, my inspiration began while exploring beautiful trails, winding rivers and mountains as a young girl. Most of my childhood years consisted of exploring, hiking, camping, building fairy houses and dreaming in the ancient forests of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I am expressive through multitudes of mediums such as hand embroidery, machine embroidery, needle felting, drawing, sewing, watercolors, mixed media, painting, quilting and macrame.

My embroidery journey started when I found a vintage embroidery kit of my mothers when I was a child. I started playing with threads and designs and fell in love with the intimate process of stitching onto hoops and clothing. The infinite love I have for sewing, embroidery and quilting has been passed down from several generations in my family, most importantly my mother, who has been the biggest inspiration to start my own business. My embroidery business began in 2020 and has continued to flourish, growing alongside my love for native plants and the natural world. As my connection with nature deepens, so have the stories I wanted to tell through thread— creating pieces inspired by wildlflowers, butterflies, woodland creatures, celestial imagery and the quiet magic found outdoors.

My growing passion led me to create a blossoming studio space in Asheville, North Carolina where I now have an industrial embroidery machine to manifest personalized clothing and designs. Through much creative exploration, I have found embroidery to be a unique way to express individuality and embellish clothing, quilts and much more. One of my favorite ways to celebrate creativity and sustainability combined is through up-cycling, mending clothing and creating slow fashion from recycled and thrifted items.

To me, embroidery feels much like tending a garden— both require patience, intention and countless small stitches or seeds that slowly become something beautiful.

Creating is my true passion and it comes in many shapes and forms. Throughout the past few years, I have cultivated a magical garden in the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina, inspiring a deeper connection with the natural world and the plants growing all around us. In 2022, I began studying herbalism, realizing it would completely change the way I see and grow within the world. What started as a curiosity soon grew into a true passion for native ecosystems, pollinator conservation and creating beautiful, intimate spaces that support local wildlife.

Today, my garden is a certified pollinator habitat, filled with native species that provide food and shelter for butterflies, bees, birds and other beneficial wildlife. Throughout the seasons, the plants and flowers I grow become part of my creative practice, inspiring new designs and finding their way into various projects that celebrate the beauty of nature. Growing flowers, vegetables, herbs and native plants has become one of my many creative outlets, and I love finding ways to preserve and incorporate them into my work.

Looking ahead, my dream is to establish a nonprofit dedicated to helping people transform even the smallest urban spaces into thriving gardens. My hope is to help pollinator-friendly and vegetable gardening accessible to everyone - showing that a tiny yard, or even a few containers can make a meaningful difference for local ecosystems.

This long-term dream is to establish a nonprofit that helps people create beautiful native gardens in urban spaces— because I believe that everyone, no matter how much how much space they have, can support pollinators, grow their own herbs and food and restore biodiversity.

Some of my other passions include playing piano, writing music, plant medicine, foraging, hiking, archery and practicing earth skills.
